Brief English Version

The Department of Food Technology and Biotechnology was founded in 2005.

The Department offers a variety of programs in education at several levels:

1) First degree of academic and professional study that lasts four years leading to the title of Bachelor's Degree in Food Products Technology.

2) Second degree of academic study lasting two years leading to the title of Master in Chemical Technology and Biotechnology and specialized academic and professional studies lasting one year leading to the degree Engineer in Technology of Fats, Ester Oils and Perfumery-Cosmetic Products and Engineer in Food Products Biotechnology).

3) Third degree of academic study – PhD (in Chemical Technology).

Academic staff of the department comprises two professors, five associate professors and one research worker. Currently the Department is headed by Doctor of Science (Chemistry), Prof., Corresponding member of Academy of Engineering Sciences Sergei V. Makarov. The researches of the workgroup of Prof. Sergei Makarov is centred around the kinetics of chemical reactions catalyzed by metallocomplexes of porphyrins and related compounds as well as chemistry of thiourea oxides, sulfoxylate and nitrite.
