Programme description

Materials and products based on ceramics and glass do not only surround the modern man everywhere, but also contribute to the development of high technologies in the energy, electronics, mechanical engineering, space and aviation industries, etc. Ceramic and silicate bricks, crockery made of porcelain, faience, ceramic tiles for various purposes (floor, facing, facade, granite), porcelain and faience sanitary and construction products, refractories, window, tar, medical, chemical glass, concrete, cement and gypsum, paving slabs and many other refractory non-metallic and silicate materials determine the quality of life of a modern person. The implemented educational programme allows to train specialists for industries engaged in the manufacture and use of various products, including refractory non-metallic and silicate materials.

The educational programme provides knowledge in various fields, in particular, in the field of inorganic chemistry, materials science, composite materials, nanotechnology, and physical chemistry.

Programme objectives

The graduate will be able to perform the following tasks:

  • to manage the technological processes of industrial production of products made of ceramic, binders, glass materials;
  • to organize workplaces, their technical equipment, accommodation of technological equipment effectively;
  • to carry out incoming inspection of raw materials;
  • to investigate the causes of defective goods in production and develop measures to prevent and eliminate them;
  • to check the technical condition and remaining life of the equipment, organize preventive inspections and current repairs;
  • to perform mathematical modelling of processes and objects based on application of software packages for scientific research.

Graduates professional activity

The field of professional activity of graduates is aimed at the development and production of modern materials that ensure progress in the field of mechanical engineering, metallurgy and other industries using materials and products based on ceramics, glass and binders. Graduates will be able to work in industries related to the implementation of new technologies in the production of refractory products, as well as silicate materials. The graduate will be able to carry out professional activities in industrial enterprises and research organizations engaged in the development, research, production and application of refractory, non-metallic and silicate materials and products based on them.

multidisciplinary professional workers in the field of chemical technology, managers in the area of production of ceramics, glass and binders, researchers in scientific and design companies.
