Programme description

Electrochemical technologies are used in various industries. Electroplating plays an important role in mechanical engineering, automotive, shipbuilding, astronautics, electronics and other industries. It fosters the methods of corrosion protection improvement and decorative finishing of parts made of metals, plastics and dielectrics, methods for producing powders, catalysts, to develop modern technologies for creating printed circuit boards. Chemical current sources (batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells) provide autonomous electronic devices and vehicles with electrical energy. The scope of their application is expanding with the advent of new devices that are not tied to the electrical network. In addition, electrochemical technologies are widely used to protect metals from corrosion.

The training programme provides knowledge in the field of electrochemistry, nanotechnology, resource and energy-saving technologies, materials science, composite materials. The educational programme allows to train specialists in the field of technology of electrochemical processes, production of autonomous sources of electrical energy, corrosion and metal protection.

Programme objectives

The graduate will be able to perform the following tasks:

  • to manage technological processes in electrochemical industries;
  • to organize workplaces, their technical equipment, installation of technological equipment;
  • to investigate the causes of defective products in production and to develop measures for its prevention and elimination;
  • to check the technical condition and residual life of the equipment, organize preventive inspections and maintenance;
  • to conduct incoming inspection (to perform control) of raw materials;
  • to analyze the causes of corrosion destruction of parts and metal structures, develop measures to protect them from corrosion;
  • to perform mathematical modelling of processes and objects based on application software packages for scientific research.

Graduates professional activity

The professional activity of the graduate is aimed at implementing modern technologies in electrochemical industries. The graduate will be able to carry out professional activities at industrial enterprises and in research organizations engaged in the research of processes and equipment operation for electrochemical production, protection of metals from corrosion.
